ReplyDeleteColleen Towey was born in Tallahassee, Florida on September 9, 1997. As a little girl she got told by many people that she looked like Shirley Temple, because of her curly strawberry blonde hair and since she loved to sing. Throughout her childhood she took singing and tap dancing classes, but it wasn't until she started high school that she began to explore other fine arts such as acting and expanding on other dance genres such as ballet and jazz. In her junior year of high school, Colleen was given the opportunity by her choir to take a trip to New York City where they would perform in front of a live audience and attend different musicals on broadway. On their first night, they got to see "Phantom of the Opera", which sparked Colleen's love and appreciation for musical theatre. After watching a Broadway performance on one of the nights, they went into FAO Schwartz and Colleen danced on the piano from the musical "Big" and she had so much fun that she felt she was part of a movie. On her final night in New York City, her choir performed at the John the Divine cathedral and it was one of the most life changing experiences of her life. This trip is the reason why Colleen fell in love with theatre and why after college she wants to move to New York City. Colleen's trip to New York City with her choir was a very special life event that she will never forget. In Fall 2016, Colleen started college at Florida State University, where both her mom and dad as well as most of her family went to for their undergrad. Colleen continues to pursue a hobby in singing and acting, and even initially had her major as musical therapy, but has since then changed her major to a combined bachelor's and master's degree of elementary education since she hopes to become a teacher after she graduates.
My interview partner is Daria Root. She was born December 23, 1998. She grew up in Long Island, New York, and lived around her extended family. In fact, one of her defining characteristics is that she is very family oriented. When Daria turned 8, she moved all the way to Fort Myers, Florida with her sister and her parents. Living in her grandparents’ house at the time, she describes that her excitement to live in her new home, was cut short due to a harsh realization. Daria recalls her dad waking her up at around three o’clock in the morning to begin their drive down south. In the midst of packing the car, she was led down the stairs to a dark hallway where her grandmother was crying hysterically. She remembers her grandma’s voice telling her mother that she was taking her grandchildren. Her grandparents were such a huge part of her life since she was a little kid so naturally it would be difficult to leave them. More importantly, this experience has highlighted Daria’s key value, relationships. She now lives a fulfilled life at the Florida State University, thriving in academic and social areas. Yet, even though she is separated from her family and childhood friends, Daria does a great job of staying in touch with her loved ones. She explains in a powerful quote, “No matter how far I go, I will always have a support system”. Daria’s will to maintain strong bonds with others is an admirable character trait, and works to explain her engaging personality.
ReplyDeleteFoster Dore was born July 7th, 1998 in Richmond, Virginia. With his Dad’s job, Foster found himself moving frequently. At four years old, Foster moved to Chicago, Illinois for a year before moving to New Orleans, Louisiana where he spent most of his life. His last big move before college was back to Chicago. A factor that has influenced the person Foster is today is one particular event he can remember in his hometown of New Orleans. Foster came into his home on a normal day when he was just seven years old to something he would never forget. Foster recalls hearing much discussion specifically involving evacuation. He tried to piece it together, understanding there was a hurricane headed towards his home. He was encouraged they would be taking a vacation and packed enough clothes for a week. Foster and his family stayed in a hotel in Biloxi, Mississippi, watching the destruction happening in his hometown on the TV. A week later, Foster headed home to a sad scene. His home was no longer the same from when he left it, roads being blocked by lots of debris. The destruction was horrible, Foster had to move again to attend school in Virginia. Hurricane Katrina changed Foster as a person, creating a mature, strong individual, exposing him to more places and more cultures. One of Foster’s ultimate goals during his lifetime is to travel, it being very obvious that his traveling through moving and his exposure to many different places have contributed to this goal. Foster has found a great culture at Florida State and seems to be thriving with many future goals near in his sight.
ReplyDeleteChristian Harnden was born in 1997, in Melbourne, Florida. He was raised in a Catholic home with two younger sisters. He enjoyed spending time in the water growing up, especially swimming, surfing, and some sailing. One summer, Christian decided to take on a job and, since he very much enjoys the ocean, he decided to work at the Yacht Club in town. He was hired as a sailing instructor, though he did not actually have any sailing experience prior to taking on this job. This comes back to one of the first experiences he had when he first reported for duties at the club when some of his coworkers and himself took some boats out on the water and a large storm hit. The waves and wind caused the boats to flip constantly and everyone was in a bit of a panic mode. Christian was the only one able to swim back to the shore so they deemed him the most competent and set him in charge of teaching the children coming in for a summer camp how to sail. He very much enjoyed this job and contemplates doing it again this summer. After finding himself in deep waters, figuratively and literally, he now has experience and knowledge about sailing. He also enjoyed activities like duck hunting and playing the guitar. He learned how to play the trumpet when put into a high school band class but does not play often. Christian attended a rather small high school with a graduating class of less than 150 students, which felt stifling at times. However, some of his friends from his hometown now attend FSU and they remain close. Growing up he was a loyal Auburn fan and did not particularly like Florida State University because of the intense rivalry between the two teams. He was offered scholarships to Auburn but chose to go to Florida State instead because the prices for in-state tuition were much more reasonable. Christian is currently a freshman at Florida State and plans to move into an apartment with some friends for the next semester. Christian is majoring in business management and hopes to pursue a career as a Dentist in the future.
ReplyDeleteMy partner’s name is Max Dou Rodriguez, he was born in La Havana, Cuba but only spent 6 months there before he went to live in London, due to his father finding a job there. Three years later after his family moved to London, his little brother was born, and two years after that they moved to Barcelona, Spain. In June 2004, they started their life in Barcelona, where he stayed for nine years and learned Catalan. Due to an economic recession the country was facing, he moved to the U.S. in 2013. Since most of his family lived in Miami, Max's family decided to settle in there. Max said that the event that had the greatest impact on him was the transition from Spain to the U.S. It destroyed him that he was leaving behind all of his friends as well as everything he ever knew. He had to start again from zero. He went in a depressive state for 2-3 weeks. He said that although he started his life anew, he knew there was a place he could call home as well as friends that he can rely on even if they’re all the way across the Atlantic. He continues to stay in contact with them and every time he goes back to Spain he spends as much time as he can with them. In Miami, he went to Felix Varela Senior High School where he met most of his friends. He got accepted for the Summer C term, here at Florida State and is studying Biology.
ReplyDeleteAndrew Stevens was born in Tallahassee, Florida, on September 24, 1996. Around the age of three, he moved to another neighborhood that was still located within Tallahassee that he still lives in today with his seventeen-year old sister and both of his parents. When he was younger, he was not allowed to own any pets, such as a cat or dog, due to his allergies, but was allowed to have a goldfish. He also learned how to play guitar when he was thirteen. He has been to five different schools in his lifetime. He went to Trinity Catholic for elementary school. Afterwards, he went to Imagine School at Evening Rose for sixth grade, but ended up transferring schools in seventh grade to Montford Middle School. However, he did not like this school and ended up going back to Imagine School at Evening Rose for eighth grade. Afterwards, he went to Lawton Chiles High School and now attends Florida State University. Last summer, between his freshman and sophomore year of college, Andrew and his family went on a special trip overseas to spend around twenty or so days in Paris, France, and London, England. They went to go and visit his grandmother on his father’s side of the family in London who typically would fly overseas to visit them. While in Paris, they got to see the Eiffel Tower. While in London, they had the opportunity to see the Big Ben, ride the London Eye, visit Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum, and even stay in a hotel next to the Shard, which is the tallest building in the United Kingdom.
ReplyDeleteMy partner is Andrea Saivay. She was born in Lima, the capital of Peru. Her whole family is Peruvian, except her grandma who’s Chilean. From her dad’s side, his ancestry is Japanese which is where her last name was originated from, and her mom’s ancestry is Italian. They welcomed her younger brother, Andre who was born in 2001. She lived seven years in Peru till she and her family got their Visa through a lottery type of contest that they won, and moved to Miami in February of 2005. At the age of seven, she was pulled back a grade due to the difference in the education schedule from Peru and had to learn a whole new language. Andrea was born with hip dysplasia, the doctors tried to treat it by placing a cast when she was a baby but it wasn’t successful. They told her that she needed to do the surgery or she’ll suffer hip pain through pregnancy and as she gets older. During the summer of 2008, at ten years old, Andrea went through a four-hour surgery on her hips. She rapidly went to physical therapy to basically learn how to walk again. She entered fifth grade on a wheelchair and slowly transitioned to crutches. Her mom would prepare home cooked Peruvian meals every day. For her 15th birthday, Andrea and her mom traveled to Peru to visit her family. In the same year, she also got to visit New York, which is the only city she’s been outside of Florida.
ReplyDeleteTampa native, Gabbi Barker, has lived an eventful life full of dance, love, and music. Gabbi grew up in dance class since she couldn’t participate in any contact sports after being born with only one kidney, but that didn’t stop her from living life to the fullest! Being the middle sister had its ups and downs, but in the end, Gabbi and her two sisters are as close as can be. Gabbi grew up with a great love for music, so she can usually be found attending concerts and music festivals with her boyfriend. She hopes to travel across the world and attend many more music festivals, mentioning one in New Zealand she’s interested in. Battling through the awkward reality of middle school, Gabbi continued her public school education at Sickles High School where she really buckled down on her academics and kickboxing, putting dance to the side. Gabbi was fortunate enough to live in the same city where the Yankees Spring Training Stadium was located, so she was able to attend their games, building her love for baseball. After a common case of senioritis, Gabbi landed in Tallahassee to attend Florida State University, majoring in communications and media and minoring in sports management. She met her best friend Emily on the second day of session C this summer, and she convinced Gabbi to rush in the fall, both ended up joining the same sorority, Alpha Phi. Her biggest complaint about college is the food because she would rather be eating sushi and chocolate, or her dad’s gourmet food. Gabbi enjoys going to the gym, doing yoga, or kickboxing in her free time if she’s not hunkered down in Strozier studying or doing homework. If she could tell her senior-year self any advice, she’d recommend studying and being on time, both important habits to develop for surviving college.
ReplyDeleteSamantha was born on march 29th, 1998 in boca raton florida. she moved to west palm beach in 2002. during her elem. school years, her parents divorced while she was in the 3rd grade. years after, her mother remarried in 2015 during her junior year of HS. during her highschool years at seminole ridge HS, she was in the Best Buddies club, french honor society, and science honor society. she was apart of the construction academy in hoigh school and is became Auto-Cad certified. she also has her realtor license. samantha traveled alot during HS to places like Virginia in 2014, Michigan in 2015, and north carolina every summer since 2011. samantha worked at B.C surf and sport for two years (2014-2016). samantha now is a freshman at florida state which was her dream school and so happened to be the only school she applied to. her first semester was summer C. she is currently a business major. she currently lives off campus and owns a cat. she is not employed or in any type of greek life and is not considering it. football is her favorite sport and System of A Down is her favorite band, and Metal is her favorite music genre. also her her favorite number is 6. samantha's transition from high school to college wasnt an easy one. she struggled with the fact that she had to leave all her friends and family back in boca raton. college was overwhelming for her and she struggled with being social and making friends. eventually, she made new friends and became involved on campus. she is now prospering in college.
ReplyDeleteSarah Mattis grew up in Tallahassee, the vibrant college town and Florida’s state capital that is currently flooded with Seminole lovers and Uber drivers. Since the age of seven, Sarah has had a love for singing and theatre, and she currently has a job singing in Tallahassee’s St. Peter’s Anglican Church with her roommate. In addition to the choir, she also has everyone’s dream job of working at Chipotle and gets free guac and burritos whenever she’s hungry. Sarah now attends FSU, but before starting school here she found herself moving five and a half hours from Tallanasty to Fort Myers after middle school and began her teen years at Fort Myers High School. Sarah moved with her mom and 2 cats, Bonnie & Clyde, and was thrilled to call this beach town full of sunshine and snowbirds her new home. Sarah’s family background includes an Amish and Irish heritage and the 6 times she has travelled out of the United States were all to visit family in Ireland. Something awesome about her is that she has citizenship in Ireland as well because her mom was born there; I find it a bit ironic that her favorite food is potatoes. When I asked If Sarah could change her name to anything it would be Madison and if she had to pick one age to be for the rest of her life it would be 28, old enough to party but not quite 30. One place that Sarah loves and visits often is New York City. When she was in choir in high school, her choir was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall, solidifying her love for the City. After multiple trips to New York for vacation, Sarah now enjoys visiting her friend who attends Colombia, which really means she doesn’t have to pay for an expensive hotel room anymore. When Sarah was young she wanted to be a vet, but now with a major of political science she is looking for a future career that is for her while still being able to sing her way to the top.
ReplyDelete“Love the life you live” with motivation from a quote like that's it's hard not to love the life that you live which is exactly what Brooke does. She loves her life no matter what difficulties that she faces with her active life styles. One important even in her life that she will never forget is the time she broke her arm twice in less than one year. The first time she broke her arm it came as an accident when Brooke was in the third grade, Brooke naturally, because of her love of adventure, fell off of a rock climbing wall in third grade. The funniest part about Brooke’s story was that she didn't even know her arm was broken at the time. Brooke went without knowing that her arm was broken until she broke her arm again and made a visit to the emergency room. The doctor pulled up an x ray of Brooke's arm and showed her where her bone had been fractured and how it healed. Before telling her that segment broke her arm for the second time in the same exact place. The second time Brooke broke her arm, she fell off of a scooter. Because of Brooke's active lifestyle it didn't come as a surprise that she may have broken a few bones throughout her lifetime. In her free time Brooke loves to go horseback riding and if she won the lottery tomorrow she would buy horses. Brooke loves horses and has been riding them for as long as she can remember. In her free time you can find her as close to horses as she can be. Fast forward to the year 2017, Brooke is now a student at Florida State University majoring in Political science and still loves horses as much as she did before, if not more. After she graduates from Florida State University, she plans to move back down south to Boca Raton, Florida to live on the beach.
ReplyDeleteBianca was born in Cleveland Ohio and remained in Cleveland Ohio until the age of 10. She considers Cleveland to be her home and is a Cleveland Cavalier fan because of it. She grew up in a single parent home with her mother and had an interesting experience as a student. In kindergarten, she was extremely curious of everything that was around her and found herself wanting to one day become a NASCAR driver. She has no current clue as to why she wanted to become one but it had her attention. Eventually she had moved to Orlando before she could even finish elementary school and had to deal with the transition into an entirely new place. Here is where she realized how much she prefers cold weather over hot. She had never come across so many palm trees and sunshine in her life until she moved to Florida. In middle school she felt as if she was the awkward individual and didn’t fit in as well with the students around her but she was somehow able to find her passion. In middle school, all she did was read. High school came around and wasn’t much different as she didn’t like attending her high school neither. She just continued to stay to herself and kept a few friends that she would sit around and talk with. After high school, she was fortunate enough to go off to college and it has been the best educational experience for her, thus far. Her favorite thing about college is the freedom she now has to do as she pleases.
ReplyDeleteAngelie Jean-Brice was born on September 2nd, 1997 in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. In January of 1998, her and her family moved to Miami, Florida, where she was raised. In high school, Angelie received her CNA and EKG license, and was in the medical assistant program. Angelie also did cheerleading and was on the homecoming committee, and even won the “all around” award her senior year. She worked at Panera for a year before coming to Florida State. Angelie originally wanted to attend UCLA, although decided to come to FSU for its cheaper in-state tuition. Angelie is apart of the CARE program, which covers many of her school costs, and so she arrived to campus over the summer session. Currently, she is a communications and media studies major and plans to minor in either English or Journalism. College was at first overwhelming to Angelie, as the class sizes were substantial and the amount of majors and career paths made it more difficult for her to adjust to. Because of the sudden transition, it took longer for Angelie to join social clubs and find substitutes for her hobbies, but luckily, through the CARE program she was able to acclimate. She made new friends and joined the Black Student Union on campus, and next semester, she plans to join the Sisters to Service and Dream, both being community service and volunteer associations. Angelie finds that FSU has helped her to grow more open to new groups of people, and FSU will help her achieve her aspiration to be a talk show host on television.
ReplyDeleteJudley was born on August 15th, 1998 in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. He has an older sister and two loving parents. His parents are immigrants so they always pushed him to follow his dreams. At 5 years old he moved to Coconut Creek Fl. In elementary school he learned how to play the piano, enjoyed playing video games, and watched a lot of Spongebob. In elementary school he met his good friend Brett. Although Brett attends FAU, when they see each other it is as if they had never been apart. Back in the day they used to do everything together from playing ball to attending school. In Highschool Judley ran track and cross country and played piano for holiday concerts. He played concerts for keyboard class. He loved being a part of a leadership class where they spoke on progression in the society especially for minorities. When Judley was applying to FSU his essay was about his personal struggles and why he was inspired to go to college. Being the first person in his family to go to college, he joined FSU's CARE program. Through the care program he has a job on campus and is loving it. Judley often misses home but his mom never fails with daily phone calls. Judley is currently majoring in Finance and hopes to be successful in the future.
ReplyDeleteMarissa Latham was born on April 22, 1998 in Birmingham, Alabama to Mike and Sandra Latham. Although her family has been in the United States for a few generations now, Marissa is actually Italian on both sides. She comes from a very big family and is in fact the youngest of four sibling, with the sibling closest in age being 11 years older. This big family includes Michael, the oldest, at 35 years old, Ree, 34, Shelley, 31, and Sam, 29 years old. In addition to her four siblings, Marissa also has two dogs. Caesar, who belongs to her older sister Ree and Sammy. Marissa spent all of her childhood and teen years living in Birmingham and attending John Carroll Catholic High school. One of the most eventful years Marissa has experienced in her life so far was her senior year at John Carroll Catholic High School. Despite already being a part of her school’s choir, Marissa also enjoyed acting and was active in the theater department. During her senior year, Marissa was cast to play the leading role as Anne Frank in her school’s adaption of The Diary of Anne Frank. As excited and honored as she was to take up the challenge of being the main character in the play, Marissa also felt the weight of all her responsibilities. According to herself, for a while during her senior year, Marissa’s life consisted of school, choir rehearsal, and then play rehearsal. Marissa’s role as the lead in her play called for her to learn 8 whole monologues, on top of all the other lines she was scripted to have during the play. Adding even more pressure onto Marissa was the fact that during the whole play, no cast members were allowed to leave the stage. The set had been made to look like the annex that Anne and her family along with another family hid in during WW2. As exhausting as it was to be “on” the whole show, Marissa did admit that it really helped her stay in character. Another way the cast and Marissa got into character before their performance was actually when a holocaust survivor came to visit the cast. The survivor was an old German Jew who told the students about his time during WW2. While sharing his story, The local Jewish and Holocaust center even came to watch. Finally, the discovered that Herzel had actually been having a stroke and nobody knew it. Keeping her sane during this crazy year was her best friend Cecilia, and her other good friends Nikki, Addie, and Alexis, who are all split up between Auburn University and Alabama University. She chose a different road, deciding to leave Alabama all together and going to Florida State. Marissa is planning on majoring in music, in hopes of one day becoming a choir teacher. Her choice to become a choir teacher was influenced by her own high school choir teacher, whom she very much enjoyed learning from and became close to during her time in choir. Last August, at the beginning of her freshman year, Marissa decided to join Greek life and rush a sorority. She is currently a sister of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and looks forward to spending her time in college with her sorority sisters.
ReplyDeleteAshleigh Forehand was born in Athens, Georgia in 1998, but she moved to Roanoke, Virginia at a young age and spent most of her childhood there. Ashleigh has a 20 year old brother and a ten year old sister. Growing up, she moved around a lot in Virginia and a few years ago, her family settled in Tallahassee. This was a fortunate move for Ashleigh because even when her family still lived in Virginia, she had a desire to attend Florida State. Ashleigh Forehand has wanted to attend Florida State for years, but that wish is not necessarily what prepared her for making such a smooth transition to a new environment with 40,000 students and mostly new faces. The college transition is not always easy and students often struggle to feel comfortable for some time before finding the place they belong and a quality group of people to spend time with. Ashleigh did not have much struggle with this because she has mastered changing schools, making friends, and feels totally comfortable in somewhat unfamiliar situations. The reason she does not shy away from this new challenge is because she has been in it before. Before her family moved from Virginia to Florida, they moved around in Virginia, a lot. In a span of five years, Ashleigh attended five different schools. The ability to adapt to new surroundings without much trouble is a very important skill to have and will help Ashleigh be successful in all of her life. The same skill that made her transition from high school to college an easy transition will also make her transition from college to the workforce an easy one. Ashleigh will be successful for the rest of her life because since such a young age, she has understood why people struggle in the hard situations they find themselves in. At Florida State, Ashleigh has found a lot of interest in the Family and Child Science program while her major is Exploratory. While Ashleigh isn’t entirely sure what she wants to do in the field of family and child sciences, I know she will do a great job because she will understand a lot of the uncomfortable situations children face when they find themselves far outside of their comfort zones.
ReplyDeleteSofia Erica Wennin was born on August 18, 1998 in Miami, FL where she lived until moving to Tallahassee for college in the summer of 2016. Her parents are Maggie and Rudolf. She has three brothers: Stephen, Patrick, and her twin brother Andre who also attends Florida State. She considers Andre her best friend. Besides her twin brother, her other best friends are Izzy and Vanessa. She is majoring in Interior Architecture and wants to do Interior Design someday. She wants to do this because she wants to design rooms so that people will feel a certain way when they enter her rooms. Sofia's favorite song is Can't Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley. Her favorite food is pasta, and if she could visit any monument that ever existed in history it would be the Berlin Wall. She has visited Amsterdam and Germany. While in Amsterdam, she saw the Annex that Anne Frank lived in while in hiding. While in Germany, she visited da concentration camp and described it as being extremely disturbing. In the summer of 2016, Sofia moved into Cawthon Hall for her summer semester. While living there she experienced some paranormal activity that involves the shower running and crying coming from inside even though no one was in the bathroom at all. Sofia's grandparents met in a very interesting way. Her grandparents met in Columbia at a club where her grandfather unsuccessfully tried to win over her grandmother. Later in life, they randomly saw each other again and he recognized her because of a bracelet she was wearing and asked her out. The rest is history.
ReplyDeleteMy partners name is Damian. He is from Jacksonville and is currently majoring in finance and real estate. As a child, his favorite foods were broccoli and cheese. Damian’s favorite song is called “Love and War”. His favorite quote is “it’s not where you start, it’s where you finish”. His favorite outdoor activity is kayaking and he enjoys jogging for exercise. Damian’s favorite time of day, day of the week, and month of the year are the morning, Wednesday, and March respectively. His least favorite mode of transportation is walking. His favorite sound is the sound of rainfall. If Damian could paint any scenery that he’s seen before, he would paint the mountains of Tennessee. If he could be any age forever, he would be 25 years old. Someone who he considers to be a mentor or inspiration for him would be Oprah Winfrey. If Damian could learn how to do anything then he would learn how to surf. If he could change his name, he would change it to Darian because that is his father’s name. If he could meet any person, living or dead, he would want to meet Rihanna. If he were to win a million dollars, the first thing he would do would be to be a bunch of houses. Damian’s favorite flavor of ice cream is cookies and cream. If he could have any question answered, he would ask “what is your purpose in life?”. After he graduates, he wants to move to Texas. In his free time, he likes to listen to music. The name he would choose for his autobiography would be “Untitled.”. An event in his life that is important to Damian is when he graduated high school after being told he couldn’t do it.
ReplyDeleteDavian is my partner and I've gotten to learn a little about his life and himself over the short period of time I had to get to know him. His birthday is December 27th, and he has two younger brothers. He's the oldest child and he's currently majoring in Sports Management, though he isn't quite sure what he wants to do with that degree. He doesn't have a favorite food or music genre, but he's open to just about anything. He really likes J. Cole and Boosie, though. Although he's more quiet and reserved, he still has a lot to say. He's learned a lot from his FSU experience so far and is glad he came here. Although he jumped right into college after high school senior year, he doesn't have any regrets. For fun, he likes to play basketball, and he used to be on the basketball team growing up. He makes sure that his grades and his head remain high no matter what life throws his way.

ReplyDeleteMr. Ryan Moots was born in Winter Haven, FL on the 15th of June 1997. He has 2 brothers and a sister; all older than him, as well as a dog and two cats. He enjoys the summertime as it is the season of his birthday and the season in which he can enjoy many of his favorite activities. He enjoys playing the drums, swimming, long-boarding, spending time with friends, and going to the beach; he is quite fond of Ana Maria Island beach. Ryan has said that he has been to this particular beach almost every summer since he was a very young child, being just a month old upon his first visit. He grew up going to a number of different schools such as Beymer, Grace Lutheran, Elbert Elementary, Jewett Academy, and Lake Region High. While still in high school, Ryan was approached by his then-girlfriend and his best friend who convinced him to join his high school drum line. He has described this as a pivotal moment in his life. He had little musical experience prior to this, but after joining he fell in love with his newfound hobby. He started out playing auxiliary percussion and cymbals. Eventually, he progressed to marching bass and performing snare. He performed in ensemble, in duets, and performed solos. One of his performances impressed so much, that he earned a superior rating in one of the band competitions. Ryan continues his passion today, still remembering what a profound impact the high school band experience has had on him. Ryan now attends Florida State University.
My interview partner is Ariana Cordona. She was born into a loving family on December 27, 1997 in Tampa, Florida. She has two siblings whom she is very close with; a brother who is 16, and an older sister who continues to be close to her due to the fact that she’s her roommate at Polo Club. As a child, Ariana attended Family of Christ Elementary, which doubled as a middle school and contained a church. Because of this, she has always been in a close knit community, always interacting with people, thus compelling her to engage in extracurricular activities later in life. This drive combined with her athletic prowess allowed her to dominate the volleyball courts at Cambridge Christian High School. Her thirst for victory wasn’t quenched there, as she extended her lethality to basketball, breaking opponent's ankles left and right. When she wasn’t destroying her enemies on the court, she used her voice to sing in her school’s choir. There she met good friends like Sophie and Madeline, whom she watches her favorite Pixar and Disney films with. They also listened to their favorite artist together, Ed Sheeran, and think his latest album “Divide” is his best work. Graduating from high school, she set her eyes unto Florida State University, always wanting to be a Seminole. Here, Ariana continues her caring persona and interactive personality. She is in the Champions program at Titus Gym, which essentially sends coaches to different schools to educate children on childhood obesity. She also drives for 30 minutes 5 days a week to help educate children with special needs at Ruedigar Elementary. These two jobs allowed her to realize what she wanted to do later in life, occupational therapy. It fits into her caring personality, and it’s something she enjoys doing.

During middle school, Audrey was invited to a six-week long intensive at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City. This was a huge deal; only the best of the best young dancers get to go to such a prestigious program. She and her mother traveled up to NYC that summer, leaving her dad, her brother, and her beloved dog behind in Miami. They stayed in a small New York apartment as Audrey attended ballet classes every day. After middle school, she was accepted into a very prestigious college prep school on a dance scholarship. She is now at Florida State studying to be a physical therapist. Although she is not a dance major, she is a member of the Seminole Dance Force here at FSU and dances in her spare time, choreographing little combinations whenever she can. In her spare time (what little of it she has), she likes to watch Gossip Girl, eat macarons, and of course dance.
