Chronological Narrative

Please post here the chronological narrative you've written about your interviewee. Remember, it should be no less than 250 words.

24 comments:

  1. My partner’s name is Andrew Stevens. Andrew is a 20-year-old sophomore who of course attends Florida State University. He was born in Tallahassee, Florida on September 24, 1996, which would indicate that his zodiac sign would be a Libra. He lived in a neighborhood called Appledoor Lane until he was around three years old until he moved into another neighborhood that he still lives in today with both his parents and his younger sister, who is now seventeen years old. Andrew has never owned a cat or a dog, as he was not allowed to own any pets due to his allergies. He was, however, allowed to have a goldfish when he was younger. For elementary school, Andrew attended a school known as Trinity Catholic. After fifth grade, he went to a school known as Imagine School at Evening Rose for sixth grade. For seventh grade, he transferred to a school called Montford Middle School. However, he ended up moving back to Imagine School at Evening Rose for his final year of middle school. He has said he cannot exactly remember why he transferred back, but he assumes it was because he did not like Montford as much as his previous school. Afterwards, Andrew attended Lawton Chiles High School for all four years of high school, and now attends Florida State University. Andrew learned how to play guitar around the age of thirteen and still plays it today. His favorite time of the year is autumn for various reasons. He mostly enjoys the nice weather, but also enjoys autumn since his birthday, Thanksgiving, and Halloween occur during this season.

  2. Christian Harnden was born in Melbourne, Florida in the year 1997. He was raised in a Catholic home and has two younger sisters, one who is seventeen and the other who is thirteen and an itty-bitty dog who is nine years old. He enjoyed spending time in the water growing up, especially swimming, surfing, and some sailing. He is life-guard certified and has had the summer job of teaching children how to sail. He also enjoyed activities like duck hunting and playing the guitar. He learned how to play the trumpet when put into a high school band class but does not play often. Christian attended a rather small high school with a graduating class of less than 150 students, which felt stifling at times. However, some of his friends from his hometown now attend FSU and they remain close. Growing up he was a loyal Auburn fan and did not particularly like Florida State University because of the intense rivalry between the two teams. He was offered scholarships to Auburn but chose to go to Florida State instead because the prices for in-state tuition were much more reasonable. Christian is currently a freshman at Florida State and plans to move into an apartment with some friends for the next semester. If he could choose to do anything he would like to learn how to be a pilot, however his color blindness prevents him from doing so. Instead, Christian is majoring in business management and hopes to pursue a career as a Dentist in the future.

As a child, Gabbi participated in gymnastics and dance because she could not participate in contact sports due to the fact that she was born with only one kidney. She, of course, went through the inevitable tomboy phase after her father decided he wanted a son but was stuck with three daughters, which is ironic consdiering her favorite Disney princess is Cinderella. Barely surviving the public school system and the awkward years of middle school, complete with puberty and braces, Gabbi ended up attending Sickles High School in Tampa where she decided to focus on her academics, kickboxing, and going to music festivals. She did all of this while also maintaining a rigorous schedule as an employee at Beef ‘O’ Brady’s. She fought through the common case of senioritis until she finally left Tampa to head to Tallahassee for Summer Session C where she met her best friend Emily. She and Emily decided to rush in the fall, and they both ended up joining the same sorority, Alpha Phi. Gabbi is majoring in Communications and Media with a minor in Sports Management here at FSU. 6. My interview was with Bianca who was born in Cleveland, Ohio. During her elementary years, she was very spontaneous and curious. Her dream was to become a race car driver. She remained in Cleveland until the age of ten where her and her family migrated down to Orlando, Florida. The transition was difficult for her as her entire life was basically changed all the way around and she had to cope with handling a totally different environment. Middle school was during the beginning of her time being in Orlando and was very new and different for her. She felt awkward in her new environment and even decided to shave her entire head for donation. This made comfortability in the new environment even worst as anyone who decides to shave their head, would feel. Thus, it became harder for her to speak and make connections with other students around her. She started to work on her intellectual strength by consistently reading whatever she could every day. During her high school years, she never felt welcomed and didn’t like her high school at all. Despite her personal troubles with school, she was still able to succeed in the classroom and eventually landed herself at the Florida State University. College has been her best educational experience thus far as she now has free will and has been able to find other individuals that she can relate to. The transition has been for the better and she has enjoyed what college has offered to her so far.

  7. My interview partner is Daria Root. She was born December 23, 1998 to parents Carrie and Daniel Root. She grew up in Long Island, New York, and lived around her extended family. In fact, one of her defining characteristics is that she is very family oriented. Although, everyone in her family is important to her, she regards her sister, who is 2 years younger than her, as her best friend. However, when she turned 8, she moved all the way to Fort Myers, Florida with her sister and her parents. Living in South Florida was a blessing to Daria, as she lived only five minutes from the beach. She made great friends while living in Fort Myers, so naturally choosing a college would be difficult. Yet, after completing high school, she decided to attend Florida State University. Leaving her hometown was hard but Daria kept a positive mindset due to her excitement for the future. So far, she has had an amazing experience at the university. Daria has expressed concern that some of her closest friends from back home seem to have fallen out of touch with her. However, they will always have a special place in her heart, so she is happy that they are making new lifelong friends and is content knowing that they would pick up the phone anytime for her. Nonetheless, Daria has become heavily involved in Greek life since attending FSU and shared that some of her best friends have been made here. Now a member of the Delta Gamma sorority, she plans to get more involved on campus and in other areas including community service. Daria has a good head on her shoulders and is eager to see what the future holds for her.

  8. My partner for this project was Brooke, born in Coral Springs, Florida in 1997. As a child and still to this day Brooke's favorite food has been macaroni and cheese and her favorite sound is the dinging of the microwave that lets you know your food is ready. A memorable moment in her life is when she was in 3rd grade Brooke broke her arm when she fell off of a rock climbing wall and didn't know it. Then just a few months last she broke her arm again by falling off a scooter. In her free time Brooke loves to go horseback riding and if she won the lottery tomorrow she would buy horses. She also likes to do outdoorsy type things such as hiking and hunting and if she would paint a picture of anything it would be the sunrise on the beach. Her favorite song is mask off and her favorite quote is "Love the life you live". If she could be one age for the rest of her life Brooke would be 21 years old. Fast forward to the year 2017, Brooke is now a student at Florida State University majoring in Political science. After she graduates from Florida State University, she plans to move back down south to Boca Raton, Florida to live on the beach. All in all if Brooke were to write a book about her life and experience she would title it "Stressed.". The book would explore her amazing journey to become exactly who she is now!

  9. My partner’s name is Max Dou Rodriguez, he was born in La Havana, Cuba but only spent 6 months there before he went to live in London, due to his father finding a job there. During his stay in London he lived in St. John’s Wood High St. a few blocks away from the Sherlock Holmes Museum. Three years later after his family moved to London, his little brother was born, and two years after that they moved to Barcelona, Spain. In June 2004, they started their life in Barcelona, where he stayed for nine years. In Barcelona, they speak Catalan and Spanish. He went to a public school called “Farigola of Vallcarca,” it could be considered a neighborhood school. He met his favorite teacher in 6th grade. She taught social sciences from history to art, her name is Maite and she had a great influence in his formation. While all of his friends went to the same secondary school, he went to another school called “Escola Pia of Sarria-Calassanç.” He stayed there for three years finishing 9th grade and then, because of an economic recession the country was facing, the “housing bubble”, he moved to the U.S. in 2013. Since most of his family lived in Miami, Max's family decided to settle in there. He went to Felix Varela Senior High School for the remaining three years where he met most of his friends. One of Foster’s ultimate goals during his lifetime is to travel. It is very obvious that his extensive traveling through moving and his exposure to many different places and different people have contributed to this goal. Foster will be able to further his exposure to new cultures and meet more people whenever he finally fulfills this life long dream of his. Coming to Florida State University, Foster has been able to meet more people, becoming very involved in the campus. Foster plays on the FSU men’s club soccer team, surrounding himself with people who share the same interest of playing soccer at the higher, competitive level. From her dad’s side, his ancestry is Japanese which is where her last name was originated from, and her mom’s ancestry is Italian. They welcomed her younger brother, Andre who was born in 2001. She lived seven years in Peru till she and her family got their Visa through a lottery type of contest that they won, and moved to Miami in February of 2005. At the age of seven, she was pulled back a grade due to the difference in the education schedule from Peru and had to learn a whole new language. She had a pretty smooth transition and always kept in touch with her culture. Her mom would prepare home cooked Peruvian meals every day. Andrea and her brother received the newest family member, their little, white, toy poodle named Candy. A few years later, for her 15th birthday, Andrea and her mom traveled to Peru to visit her family. As a birthday present, her mom got both of them tickets to visit one of the seven wonders of the world, Machu Picchu. In the same year, she also got to visit New York, which is the only city she’s been outside of Florida. In the summer of 2015, Andrea became an official US citizen. As a child she has attended the Family of Christ Elementary school which doubles as a middle school. Plus, for convince sake, her church was located within the institution. Within this school she has meant extremely great friends such as Sophie and Madeline. As a child, her pastimes included watching Pixar and Disney movies, and watching shows such as Lizzie Mcguire and Dragon Tales. However, what she loved the most was listening to music. 13. I learned much about Mr. Ryan Moots. He was born in Winterhaven, FL on the 15th of June 1997. He has 3 siblings: two brothers and a sister; all older than him. He grew up in a neighborhood with many other kids his age and so spent much of his quality time with them. He owns three pets; a dog and two cats. His parents have never separated.

Ryan lived with a few of his cousins for a period of time. He lived in three different houses in Winterhaven and went to a number of different schools including Beymer, Grace Lutheran, Elbert Elementary, Jewett Academy, and Lake Region High. His hobbies include longboarding, spending time with friends and playing the drums. Playing drums is apparently a favorite pastime of his He has mentioned that if he were to ever win the Powerball, he would use the prize money of his, as he has been playing for quite some time and emphasized his love of the instrument to invest a nice house, a nice car, and save the rest for a time when he would need it.

Ryan’s favorite season of the year is summer, being the the time of year his birthday is in and also adding that he enjoys activities such as swimming and visiting the beach.

One of his favorite vacation spots is Ana Maria Island, having gone there almost every summer since he was a young child, being only a month old upon his first visit to the tropical vacation spot.

  14. For this assignment, I got to interview Marissa Latham. Marissa was born on April 22, 1998 in Birmingham, Alabama to Mike and Sandra Latham. Although her family having been in the United States for a few generations now, Marissa is actually Italian on both sides. She comes from a very big family and is in fact the youngest of four siblings. She truly is the “baby” of the family, with the age gap of the sibling closest in age being 11 years. This big family includes Michael, the oldest, at 34 years old, Bri, who is 34 years old, Shelley, who is 31, and Sam, 29 years old. In addition to her four siblings, Marissa also has two dogs. Caesar, who belongs to her older sister Bri and Sammy. Sammy would not be described as the nicest dog, seeing as he usually bites people when they touch him. Although it is nasty behavior, it becomes more understandable when the fact that Sammy is blind is taken into consideration. Marissa spent all her childhood and teen years living in Birmingham and attending John Caroll Catholic High school. Her first move was actually to leave Alabama and come to Tallahassee and attend Florida State. Marissa is planning on majoring in music, in hopes of one day becoming a choir teacher. Her choice to become a choir teacher was influenced by her own high school choir teacher, whom she very much enjoyed learning from and became close to during her time in choir. Last August, at the beginning of her freshman year, Marissa decided to join greek life and rush a sorority. She is currently a sister of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and looks forward to spending her time in college with her sorority sisters.

  15. Sophia Wennin was born on August 18, 1998 in Miami, Florida. She is of the Cuban/Columbian/German ethnicity. She went to Westminster Christian School for elementary school, middle school, and high school. She is majoring in Anterior Architecture at Florida State University. She has three brothers, one of which is her twin who also attends Florida State and is her best friend. Her favorite food is pasta/empanadas; her favorite song is Can't Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley. If she could stay any age it would be 24. If she could see any historical monument it would be the Berlin Wall before it was torn down. She visited Amsterdam and saw the Annex that Anne Frank lived in and also a concentration camp while visiting Germany. She came to FSU for the summer semester in 2016. She noticed that Tallahassee is very different than Miami in that it is cheaper and has a different atmosphere. She lived in Cawthon over the summer. One night she came home when her roommates were gone and only one of her suite mates was home. Her bathroom door was locked so she asked her suite mate to unlock it; however, her suite mate said that although no one was in the bathroom, the shower was running and she could hear someone crying inside. The next day, Sophia and her roommate were talking and all of a sudden her desk moved and they heard someone say hello.

  16. Sarah Mattis was born January 6, 1998 in Tallahassee, Florida. She has an older brother who is now 25 and loves her 2 cats that live at home with her mom. After spending her childhood in Tallahassee, Sarah moved to Fort Myers for high school but came back to her hometown to attend college here at FSU. When in high school in Fort Myers she was a part of Music Honor Society and the marching band. Since the age of seven Sarah has had a love for singing and currently has a job singing in Tallahassee’s St. Peters church choir with her roommate. In addition to the choir, she also has everyone’s dream job of working at Chipotle and gets free guac and burritos whenever she’s hungry. Sarah’s family background includes an Amish and Irish heritage and the 6 times she has travelled out of the United States were all to visit family in Ireland. Something awesome about her is that she has citizenship in Ireland as well because her mom was born there; I find it a bit ironic that her favorite food is potatoes. When I asked If Sarah could change her name to anything it would be Madison and if she had to pick one age to be for the rest of her life it would be 28; old enough to party, but not quite 30. One place that Sarah loves and visits often is New York City. When she was in choir in high school, her choir was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall, and after multiple trips to New York Sarah now enjoys visiting her friend there who attends Colombia. When Sarah was young she wanted to be a vet, but now with a major of political science she is looking for a future career that is for her while still being able to sing her way to the top.

Colleen Towey was born in Tallahassee, Florida on September 9, 1997. She has a brother that is older than her by a year and she has never had any pets. As a little girl she got told by many people that she looked like Shirley Temple, because of her curly strawberry blonde hair and since she loved to sing. Growing up she went to a tiny catholic private school from kindergarten to 8th grade and she continued to sing and started tap classes throughout her childhood. It wasn't until she had to transition to a large public school for her high school years, that she began to explore other fine arts such as acting and expanding on other dance genres such as ballet and jazz. In her junior year of high school, her choir took a trip to New York City where she got to sing for a live audience and also attend different musicals on broadway. This trip is the reason why Colleen fell in love with theatre and why after college she wants to move to New York City. In Fall 2016, Colleen started college at Florida State University, where both her mom and dad as well as most of her family went to for their undergrad. Colleen continues to pursue a hobby in singing and acting, and even initially had her major as musical therapy, but has since then changed her major to a combined bachelor's and master's degree of elementary education since she hopes to become a teacher after she graduates.

  18. Ashleigh Forehand was born in Athens, Georgia in 1998, but she moved too Roanoke, Virginia at a young age and spent most of her childhood there. Ashleigh has a 20 year old brother and a ten year old sister. Growing up, she moved around a lot in Virginia and a few years ago, her family settled in Tallahassee. This was a fortunate move for Ashleigh because even when her family still lived in Virginia, she had a desire to attend Florida State. In her family’s house, you can find her parents, siblings, and her pets. Ashleigh loves animals and cares for three cats and a dog at home. Since living in Tallahassee, Ashleigh has held a job at Publix supermarkets. She has enjoyed her time working there because her coworkers make everything fun and can sometimes be very entertaining. At Florida State, Ashleigh has found a lot of interest in the Family and Child Science program while her major is Exploratory. If Ashleigh could learn a special talent, she would love to acquire phenomenal ability on the piano and if she could have a teacher in the music world, it would be Tyler Joseph, Josh Dun, Chris Salih, and Nick Thomas from 21 Pilots. Ashleigh considers Chicken Alfredo as one of her all time favorite dishes, and an ideal afternoon would be sitting on the couch with her pets, a big bowl of Alfredo and watching episode after episode of Gilmore Girls all evening as well. Ashleigh is a believer of God and practices her faith as part of a non denominational church.

  19. Angelie Jean-Brice was born on September 2nd, 1997 in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. In January of 1998, her and her family moved to Miami, Florida, where she was raised. Angelie has one younger brother and no pets, as she has never been too fond of them. Her first language is Creole and her second language is English, she also knows some french. She grew up rooted in Miami, not moving around too much, attending the same schools and had a solid friend group. Amongst that group, she shared the interest of R&B music and cheerleading, as she was a cheerleader from the years of 2014-2015. Angelie was the most sociable of her group, and even earned the “all around” superlative award her senior year. In high school, Angelie also earned her CNA license and her EKG license and was enrolled in the medical assistant program. However, in her senior year of high school, she decided that the health profession wasn't for her. All of her friends pushed her towards television, as Angelie is very personable and sociable, and so Angelie has set her desires towards becoming a talk show host. UCLA was her first choice in college, but instead she attends FSU due to it’s cheaper tuition. Her first semester here at college was summer 2016 and she is currently enrolled in the CARE program, where she has met many new people. She joined the BSU (Black Student Union) and is currently taking 4 classes, her favorite of them being Art and Environment. Angelie is a communications and media studies major, and will minor in journalism or possibly english.

  20. Davian Smith is a 20-year-old sophomore from Orlando, Florida. He has two younger brothers, ages 16 and 19. He likes all types of music, but if he had to pick his top three favorite artists, they'd be Boosie, J. Cole, and Future, in no particular order. He prefers warm weather over cold weather and has never actually seen snow. His favorite ice cream is vanilla and if he were reincarnated as an ice cream flavor, it'd be that one for sure. He's majoring in Sports Management, though he isn't quite sure what he'd do with it career wise. He hasn't lived the easiest life, and we've all had our struggles. He grew up in a single parent household and that didn't stop him from pursuing his goals and dreams. He and his brother attend Florida State University after four years of difficult high school. Despite the fact that he moved a few times, got kicked off the basketball team during his 10th and 11th grade years, and being reserved throughout it all, he's here in college, ready for anything.

  21. My partner is Quentin Damasio. He is an 18 year old freshman at Florida State University. He is majoring in Computer science here at Florida State. On his spare time he likes to watch videos on youtube about science. When he gets out of undergrad he wishes to get a job or internship working in computer programming. He has a strong passion for computer science and one way or another he is going to accomplish his goal of being a computer programmer. But in the mean time, his favorite thing to do around campus is long boarding, but he also likes to bike ride for exercise. His favorite day, month and time of day is at night on Saturday in June. He says his reasoning is because his birthday is in June. He hates riding the train to get from point A from point B. If he could paint any portrait in the world, it would be the beaches of Costa Rica. If Quentin could learn to do anything, it would be to learn how to play the guitar. He doesn't have a favorite artist or singer, but he just loves all rock music. When he was little his favorite meal was mac and cheese. I mean who doesn't love mac and cheese. If he could be reincarnated into anything he would want to be a monkey, which is pretty cool. Last but not least if he could meet anyone alive or dead he would want to meet Michael Jackson.

Not only has she trained extensively in many styles, but her focus and dedication to ballet led her to a summer intensive at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City at the mere age of thirteen. He enjoys the summertime as it is the season of his birthday and the season in which he can enjoy many of his favorite activities. Ryan has said that he has been to this particular beach almost every summer since he was a very young child, being just a month old upon his first visit. He grew up going to a number of different schools such as Beymer, Grace Lutheran, Elbert Elementary, Jewett Academy, and Lake Region High. He had little musical experience prior to this, but after joining he fell in love with his newfound hobby. He started out playing auxiliary percussion and cymbals. Eventually, he progressed to marching bass and performing snare. He performed in ensemble, in duets, and performed solos. One of his performances impressed so much, that he earned a superior rating in one of the band competitions. Ryan continues his passion today, still remembering what a profound impact the high school band experience has had on him. Ryan now attends Florida State University.
